but emotionally it brilliantly set the tone of the film.

It set my finger right for the stop button.

The King was a really cool rental. Glad I didn't go and see it in the theaters. Gael García Bernal plays Elvis, a freshly-released Sailor out to seek the man that impregnated his Mother. This man is played by William Hurt with a depth perception only someone of his talent could provide. I shudder to think of casting a Billy Bob or even Pacino. You see, his father is an Evangelist Preacher in Corpus Christi, TX with a whole new life. Christianity saved him from his past and allowed him to forget what happened to Yolanda 22 or so years ago. Creepiness and turns abound. I'll be interested in what James Marsh will direct next.

I know lady_w saw this. I'd be interested to hear other's takes.

I actually found Talk To Me more difficult to sit through, a woman in a coma being sexually molested really unnerved me

On Ehle's suggestion to take this topic to this forum

Guilty Pleasures:

One of mine is Bliss with Terrence Stamp, Craig Sheffer, Sheryl Lee

http://imdb.com/title/tt0118742/

One that belongs in the interesting sex scenes catagory
slightly pornish - but not dumb or redundant of other thrillers

another goody guilty pleasure - Never Talk to Strangers

Antonio Banderas, Rebecca DeMorney

I have a sneaking suspicion that Mr. Banderas has made a lot of these. I have to confess to liking that wretched Original Sin with AB, Angelina Jolie and Thomas Jane. Such an awful film, but golly gee they sure were pretty to look at.

Re the Irreversible discussion, I have a SPOILER question to ask. I'd rather not sit through the movie again to find out, but didn't it turn out that {BEGIN SPOILER} the guy who was beaten in the bar in the first scene we see (the conclusion if the story were told cronologically) was not the same guy who committed the rape? In other words, the mob took revenge on the wrong guy? {END SPOILER} I gave up not long after fast-forwarding through most of the infamous rape scene, so there may be something I'm getting wrong, but I read that spoiler question someplace and wondered if it was really true.

Earl - I can't read white on white - so send me a PM with your spoiler IRREVERSIBLE question, and I'll try to answer it.

I'd answer that with a yes. If I'm remembering correctly, SPOILER the guy who did do it is in the crowd somewhere as they're beating the other guy up. Sad all around. END SPOILER

I didn't see the movie under optimal conditions (it was nominated over on MilkPlus, and the voting was going to be over by that midnight), but it was a heartbreaker.

mo - if you highlight the text, you'll be able to see it.

A couple of options you can try, Mo.

Reply to Earl's post and you will see all of the text.

Or highlight all of the text and copy it to a text editor.
