I'm way behind on Current Films.
Not to much I want to see.
Been hearing good things about Argo, but won't likely be here for another 2 months I'd guess.
The Sessions sounds like the kind of modern sex-obsessed stuff I avoid, but I'll keep it in mind if it gets good buzz. |

This is not what it is at all. It's closer to Rocky than to I Am Curious Yellow or whatever sex-obsessed movie you're thinking of. If Helen Hunt didn't get naked (as un-self-consciously as can be), it would be rated PG. |

Am reading, and seeing. Commented on The Master, but was late to that party. Am seeing Argo this week. Will see anything with WH Macy and John Hawkes, whenever it shows up in stixville. (I cannot help thinking "Arthur Digby Sellars" when I hear about the iron lung thing....the famous screenwriter who lives in an iron lung and whose car-thieving son is the object of John Goodman's wrath, in TBL) |

The TV ads for "The Sessions" make it look a bit sex-obsessed, which is why it didn't appeal to me (except that William H. Macy looked amusing).
And thanks, Billy, for using "replete" correctly. I'm constantly having to change it to "complete" in text I work on (as in "a Hamptons home replete with two fireplaces").
One of the things I liked about the book "Glasshouse" was that the sinister force behind the Censorship Wars was called Curious Yellow. I can't help but wonder how many readers ever heard of the film, much less its effect on censorship. |

| The Sessions shouldn't need my support. It will probably be a huge hit. But just for the record, I will state unequivocally and again that you should all see it without fail. It's an instant classic. |

Glad to hear I used "replete" correctly, but explain whether "a Hamptons home replete with two fireplaces" is correct or incorrect usage. Can't quite understand from the context. |

I've seen the trailer for The Sessions a few times; and I was torn between John Hawkes love and disdain for (apparently) ham-handed writing. The line "My penis talks to me" comes to mind as an example. It could be all the trailer's fault, like they put all the money lines in the trailer, but being out of context they fall flat -- but it didn't make me want to see the flick. Will probably catch it on the tube when the time comes, though.
I was doing okay with current films -- the delightfully gadawful Hit & Run and Looper recently, to name two. Couldn't get to Argo or Seven Psychopaths last week, and with a funeral and a birthday (not for the same person) this weekend, probably won't get to either one this week. Will have to enjoy current films vicariously for the short term, I guess. |

Of course you can't write "replete with", and then give a low number, for sure. I don't even think it should give a high number, but I could be wrong. Replete with 'hundreds of' or 'thousands of', etc. can be used. |

| The other (besides Alan Arkin) amazing piece of acting in Argo is by Farshad Farahat as an incredibly intense and complicated airport guard. The character has no name, but you'll know him when you see him, and Farahat deserves notice. He's a terrific actor. |
