Which song? All the music was amazing.
"Angel Eyes," "My One and Only Love," etc. Sting did great vocal work. |

Just a lame joke.
I was trying to reference the droning Sheryl Crow song which I actually don't much like and don't think has anything to do with the film.
I should have written:
The Sheryl Crow song was the best part of the film.
But we'd still be left with the lame joke and me trying to explain it ....
I did hate LLV.
Don't recall the actual music ... |

Never heard the Crow song, titled, I guess, "Leaving Las Vegas." |

| You must have heard it Billy. It got a lot of play and don't take gromit's word for it, it is an excellent song. I'm sure you can get it on UTube or one of those sites. |

I know someone who saw Hope Springs - they didn't see any Oscar-worthiness from El Streepio. In fact "had my hands over my face half the time...." was the reaction.

Interesting article, but they talk about Bradley Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook and overlook Jennifer Lawrence, who is reputed to be at least Cooper's equal.
Also Helen Hunt in The Sessions, a simply great performance. Helen Mirren, whom they mention. Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Smashed. Rachel Weisz in The Bourne Legacy (this is largely because TBL is seen as a genre film and God forbid there should be an Oscar performance in a genre film!!!). |

I think you need to skim better:
Quote: Among the female performances, only one name stands out: Jennifer Lawrence. In Silver Linings Playbook, playing the oddball girl next door, she gives the kind of wonderful performance that’s already made her the frontrunner to this year’s Oscar race. At only 22, Lawrence has become that rare Hollywood actress with box-office clout. Her Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games earned $408 million last spring, the No. 3 most successful movie of the year. The only problem is, come February’s Academy Awards, she might be the lone contender in the Best Actress category. |

| Speaking of Best Actress possibilities, I saw Rust and Bone yesterday. In French, it offers Marion Cotillard the best role she's had since her Oscarwinning Edith Piaf. It's a strange and compelling drama, part psychological examination and part romance. Cotillard's costar, Matthias Schoenaerts, matches her. Quite impressed. |

Odd statement, since they mention Quvenzhané Wallis later on as a potential nominee. I guess they don't consider her a contender. I haven't seen "Silver Linings Playbook," but Lawrence is one of the best actresses working today, and I like her in about everything. |

| Helen Hunt's performance in The Sessions may be overlooked because it was not "showy." It was a subtle and beautiful performance that gave the movie some much-needed soul. |
