Only ever saw In Bruges on the small screen and think it hangs the moon.

www.google.com. Type "hangs the moon" in the inquiry box.

Extremely wonderful, amazing.

It means he liked it a whole lot, as do I.

Which I can't say for Seven Psychopaths, which succumbs to all the potential pitfalls In Bruges just barely avoided, mainly a self-conscious and somewhat self-satisfied cleverness with language which distances the audience and weakens the dramatic arc. The acting is good all over the board, but the arty and quip-heavy script lets them down.

And do I.

I will probably see Psychopaths this week. From the reviews I've read it sounds like a movie I'd like.

I don't thin you commented on the Yankees crash and burn. I pictured you popping a champagne cork and celebrating their demise. I would have if I were flush and had someone to drink with.

Sorry I didn't comment on the Yankees. Of course I'm over the moon, since I don't think the Yankees "hang the moon" by a very, very, very long shot. And the meltdown of the execrable A-Rod is just the cream on the top.

I exempt Derek Jeter, btw. Like him, always have.

I only ever saw In Bruges on the small screen and thought it was fairly good, but overpraised. It seemed a bit convoluted in plot and motivation.
Howsobutever, since it has such a buzz here I just bought a copy tonight to send to my sister and her family. And might give it another watch before I send it off.

The Sessions shouldn't need my support. It will probably be a huge hit. But just for the record, I will state unequivocally and again that you should all see it without fail. It's an instant classic.

Here's the article on which the film is based:
on seeing a sex surrogate - mark o’brian

Helen Hunt on why size matters:
Quote:
"I keep saying that I hope people see this in a theater. It’s one thing to see people vulnerable and naked at home, but to be in a room full of strangers laughing and then getting scared for [O’Brien]…you can’t believe it’s happening. To have that be a communal thing, I want that more than other movies I’ve been in."

okay really she's talking about watching it as a shared experience, bit i didn't have a joke for that.

I avoid movies that are so anatomically specific. And asymmetrical.

But I agree with this: "There is no director attached yet, but, like, fingers crossed for Werner Herzog or something."

When iguanas sing.

Apparently, following on from his fearless expose of the slave ownership in American South, “Django Unchained”, Tarantino’s next film, “Holy See This” (provisional title) explores the purging of witches in 15th century Europe and features a climactic scene in which the queen of the witches, played by Lindsay Lohan in a career rejuvenating part, eviscerates the Pope in the Vatican and secretly takes his place on the papal throne.

I must admit to being conflicted over Quentin Tarantino's bravura revisionism - I'm remain unconvinced that grindhouse wish-fulfilment is an appropriate way to handle some of history's more sensitive periods. Of course, if somebody explains to me that this is all a post-modern parody of Tinsel Town’s treatment of of the past, I guess that’ll be fine.

Disappointed to see that people whose judgement I trust have been underwhelmed by two films I was looking forward to seeing: "Seven Psychopaths" and "Killing Them Softly." Ah well.

I'll be seeing Seven Psychopaths and I think I'll like it, so if i give it a good review you can trust me and go see it.

Just saw Argo today. Very well done movie and very well acted. An unusual mixture of hysterical Islamist Iranian mobs causing bloody havoc and a lot of humour about Hollywood's self-centred silliness. The initial attack on the American Embassy was very scary. After seeing the movie I looked up the history of the escape of the 6 Americans and the movie was fairly accurate. The escape in the film was much more blatantly frightening than the actual escape, though I'm sure the escapees had a gut wrenching time getting on that plane and getting away.

Ben Affleck did a very good job as director and acted very well. Who knew?????
