| A sad consequence of its failure to garner a BP nomination is that it is no longer in any nearby theater and I am unlikely to get the chance to trek across town to see it. So it looks like home video for me. |

It's the kind of movie which will not lose very much by being seen on the home screen. |

| Given the cheapness of LCD/LED tvs now, you will probably come out ahead in a couple years simply by the electricity you save not powering up a 36" cathode ray tube. (just make sure you recycle it with a reputable electronics recycler, so it doesn't end up in a Chinese scrap yard --- the current method there is to burn the tube and circuitry, to melt out the valuable metals, which creates airborne lead levels that are poisoning entire towns) |

| Do you think it's sacred ground, as a film? The characters all seem to be different (though clearly parallels exist) from the film - just seems to be taking the setting and the general tone. |

Fargo has been tried as a series before, with Edie Falco as Marge. It was over and out. This time around it's very different, however. And the Coens are very much involved. |

| I wish they would put their energy into another movie. Only one since 2010 and nothing in the pipeline. It's like they have morphed into Mallick. |

I wish they'd make more films too, but they are nothing like Malick. They're still interested in connecting with audiences and not just in visual masturbation.
Plus which, a lot of television is far better than most movies these days. I'd rather watch The Americans or The Good Wife or Bates Motel than go out to the movies most of the time. So doing Fargo as a series is potentially a great idea. It will all depend on the execution. From the promo clips, I fear a little too much Twin Peaks is in store. |

I agree, and I know we agree on which entity is the valuable one. Malick's films (with the exception of Badlands) make me either bored stiff (Days of Heaven) or verrrrry sleepy (The New World) or physically ill (The Thin Red (not "blue") Line and The Tree of Life).
